When Wally was forced out of his own company, it seemed so unfair. But he refused to be a victim:
“When my company rejected me and gave me lemons, I decided to turn those lemons into lemonade. I remembered that doors had slammed in my face before, yet others had always opened to more brilliant prospects.
I chose to see my current situation as the necessary impetus for creating a fabulous future.
Marilyn Carlson Nelson, CEO of the Carlson Companies, said,
“You may see me as a woman who has power – the leader of a large company. But the power that matters is the power in my heart.
It doesn’t matter if you are trying to make a deal that makes a huge difference, or trying to fix a problem within a company. Ultimately, you have to have faith in yourself.
You have to have a sense that you will be personally accountable and do everything in your power to influence this world and make a difference.
And, you have to know that there’s a limit to what you can do and a place where only God can make a difference. If you get that right, you will be successful.
Don’t let anyone tell you that success has to do with money or power. Success has to do with living on your terms, and ultimately to make a difference.
To live your days in such a way that if the time comes where you face some kind of illness, or if something happens that changes your path and shortens your days, that you can say, ‘Okay. If today is my last, I’m prepared.”
What did people do to accomplish great things and achieve the results they wanted before the success and personal development movement started in the 1900s?
Change and “Be a part of the Change” was the primary
message in the recent presidential campaigns here in
the US.
And change is needed! The reason change is the theme
these days is that we all want or need things to be
different, better in our lives.
With the New Year and the recent inauguration
speech many people are asking questions…..
Colli Butler grew up with alcoholic parents. Her mother was married 5 different times.
Her father, who had more marriages than her mom did, left when she was a 2 or 3 years old, and she never saw him again.
As a teenager, she had such a volatile relationship with her mother that she moved out of her home more than 20 times in just 4 years. Colli moved from place to place, constantly seeking a more stable and happy environment.
Her life was hard, to say the least.
However, she was able to overcome these seemingly insurmountable odds and emotionally unstable background. In fact, she eventually grew up to be a highly successful network marketer!
She has also maintained a very happy and healthy marriage.
By the time Colli was ten, she had seen many women whose lives were full of suffering, oftentimes brought upon themselves because of making the wrong choices.
Colli learned from those negative examples, and she vowed never to make the same mistakes.
She built up the spiritual area of her life, which in turn had a positive effect on the rest of her life. She had her heart set on success, and because of this heart-set she was able to overcome all obstacles and achieve greatness in her life.
Everyone has the innate ability to achieve what they most desire, no matter what barriers exist.
When my son was twenty-two years old, he wanted to buy a truck so he could start his own lawn care business.
His Core Desire was to be more independent and self-sufficient, but he needed to buy a truck to be able to do that. His former boss had a great truck, and my son knew that he needed one just like it.
He went to almost every dealership in the Denver area, but to no avail.
Just like affirmations, visualizing the end result you desire can make you feel good, because you have been told this is a critical key to success and so you do it faithfully.
But, does it really work?
* Has your income increased by $1,000 a month?
* Have you lost the weight?
* Do you have that new boat, new car or mountain cabin you visualized?
On the other hand, have you ever gotten something you wanted without doing daily affirmations and visualization?
Of course you have! It’s not visualization that cause you to have success! It is something much more simple!
I have achieved everything that is important in my life and work without visualization exercises and goal setting. I never wrote down that I would be a professional speaker or the author of a book.
I was raised on a Navajo Indian reservation. I was the only Caucasian boy in my high school senior class, and most of the other kids didn’t like me because of my skin color and because of what the “bilagonas” (white men) did to their ancestors.
Their anger towards me was inherent, and it meant that I was bullied almost every day.
I stopped setting goals many years ago, and I still achieve everything I want at a very high level of satisfaction and joy in all areas of my life.
Everything I have accomplished, I have done without setting any goals.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you’ll still hit a star”?
Well you know what? When you’re setting a goal for something, you don’t want a star. You want the moon!
What if the Apollo astronauts set a goal to get to the moon, didn’t reach it, and decided on just settling for some star?
Bonnie St. John Deane grew up in hospitals, in leg braces, and on the wrong side of the tracks, but that didn’t stop her from believing that an African-American girl with only one leg could learn to ski. Bonnie knew the incredible strength of following her desires.
As soon as she began learning, she set her sights on qualifying to compete in the 1984 Disabled Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria!
She was actually accepted at an elite ski academy in Vermont, and thought then that she was on her way. But she ended up searching for months to get some sort of scholarship to be able to afford the school, and couldn’t get anything.
When she told the headmaster that she couldn’t afford the tuition and had failed to find sponsors, he said, “Come anyway.”
It was then that she knew this opportunity would change her life.
Bruce Jenner was one of those guys that seemed to have it all.
He was the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion who seemed too All-American to be true. He was the man on the Wheaties box and on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He was the pinnacle of life success.
Have you ever dreamed of reaching that type of success in your life?
Goal Setting is the reigning king of all success techniques ever taught.
You have likely been taught that if you will write down your goals and read them daily, somehow they will happen.
That’s just not true.
Philosopher Eric Hoffer said this: “It seems that intense desire creates not only its opportunities but it’s own talents.”
William Hazlitt, also a wise philosopher, confirms this viewpoint. He says, “A strong desire for any object will insure success, for the desire of the end will point out the means.”
It’s been taught, and rightly so, that you need enthusiasm, discipline, persistence and self-motivation to achieve success. This is true.
However, can those teaching this ultra basic and commonsensical information tell you where to get these needed things if you don’t have them? No. They can’t, unless they’re giving you the vague answer “from within”.
