- Find your target audience: Most people who have an online business have a core problem with their advertising methods – they are too broad. If your target audience is anyone in the world, then it is not likely you will find individuals who are interested in purchasing too often. However, if you direct your efforts solely to those who are interested in your product, you will see a much higher sales return for your efforts. People want to believe that you are speaking directly to them – not to some nebulous ‘all you folks’.
- Optimize your website: You don’t have to have the most beautiful website in the world – you just have to have one that people can find! In order to make money, people need to be able to find your website online through a process known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). There are plenty of ways using SEO to increase the amount of people who visit your webpage, ranging from SEO friendly web design, content, and article submissions. The equation is simple: Greater traffic = Greater sales revenue. Now, if this is not your talent, don’t feel bad. There is someone out there whose Core Desire is to do this very thing – all you have to do is go out and find them! Part of working in the online community means that you rarely have to do anything all by yourself.
- Offer a ‘free’ gift: Once you find your target audience and increase your SEO friendliness, you need to captivate the interest of your new traffic so that they return. Offering a free gift – whether it be tangible or a free PDF like an eBook, audio file, or MP3 is a great way to achieve this. You always want to let you know that you give great value at all times – whether it be through your free gift or your purchased product.
- Utilize social networking: Social networking is one of the best ways to get the word out about your business that will not cost you any more than your time. Social media is increasingly becoming the number one marketing tool of online businesses, so use it to your advantage by taking an active role in your target audience’s social networks. Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are all great social media outlets to start with. But always keep in mind – the primary purposes of these networks is to BE SOCIAL. Don’t go out there promoting your product 100% of the time – you want get what you’re looking for. Take this opportunity to get to know your target audience and let them get to know you – it’s called relationship marketing.
