Is the Idea of Starting Your Own Business Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone?

I have a question for you today, and I want you to really think about it:

How large would you like your comfort zone to be?

Do you believe that it can be as big as you’d like? You can choose to place no limits on yourself.

The challenge you face is you may be intentionally, and sometimes even unknowingly, keeping yourself in a very small comfort zone.

You could be doing it right now. Starting your own business? Too risky. I can’t ask her to marry me – I don’t have enough to provide for her. I couldn’t be an influencer – I don’t even have a college degree. I think I’ll just sit right here for now…there’s too many limitations holding me back…I’m just a housewife, just a kid, just a blue collar man…

Do you ever think things like that? If so, I’ve got some news for you. If you ever want to get more out of your life, you must move beyond your small comfort zone and into the “discomfort zone.”

Is the Idea of Starting Your Own Business Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone?

The “discomfort zone” can be identified as that part of your life that is unfamiliar or uncomfortable, and even disturbing for you.

However, the longer you stay in the “discomfort zone” the more comfortable you become.

Here’s the challenge…

Left to your own choice, most individuals will never get out of their comfort zone.

Because it is unfamiliar, scary, and uncomfortable!

And people have all kinds of reasons and excuses for not moving out of their comfort zone – I’m sure you could list off quite a few yourself! There’s always a reason – maybe even a ‘good’ one, for not taking a chance at the newest opportunity.

What it really comes down to – what you have to ask yourself – is: “Do you want it or not?”

There will always be those who tell you – especially when it comes to starting your own business – “It can’t be done.” There is a great Chinese proverb that says, “The person who says it can’t be done should not interrupt the person doing it.”

If you’re feeling stuck where you are and a little bit nervous about venturing into the “Discomfort Zone”, I want you to understand something. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. In fact, I encourage you to find some help!

Think about it – why do athletes have trainers? Why do employees need managers? Why do singers have voice coaches? It’s true that some people can do OK on their own – but never underestimate having some assistance to push you past your limitations. So get out there and ask for some help!

Today, I want to help you enlarge your comfort zone. I’m hosting a special Q&A event tonight, July 30th, at 9:00PM EST. I encourage you to jump on this call and ask your question – take this as the first step to getting out of your comfort zone.

You can find out all the information on how to join in right here
. In the meantime, find someone close to you – someone you admire. Take another step out of your comfort zone – walk up to this person, and ask them to help you. You’re never going to move out of where you are unless you’re willing to take that first step.

I’d love to see you go beyond your imagination.

  1. Going outside of your comfort zone is the key to success in my opinion.

  2. I took a course in college that studied how to handle transitions in life. Change was described as moving from a nice warm pond where you know everything and everybody to a rapid and rocky stream where you don’t know what is coming up next and you might have to paddle hard to keep up. Starting your own business might seem like a jumping from a placid stream into some angry waves, but it doesn’t last forever and soon you’ll learn how to stay a float and then swim successfully.
