Seven Words to Change Your Life: Are You Willing To Take Risks?

20

Venture capitalists risk a certain amount of money in order to make more money.  Women risk the complications and exhaustion of pregnancy in order to have the benefit of a baby.  Firefighters risk their own lives to save the lives of others.  Students risk tuition money and years of studies for the potential benefit of a lucrative career.   Entrepreneurs risk the hours, money and dedication needed to start a new business for the potential benefit of a successful business.   Publishers risk the cost of printing and marketing a novel for the potential benefit of a best seller.

Seven Words to Change Your Life: Are You Willing To Take Risks?

Seven Words to Change Your Life: Are You Willing To Take Risks?

Nothing worthwhile was ever achieved without risk.   In fact, risk is unavoidable.  Even if you never drive on busy freeways, never clean guns, never step on sidewalk cracks, you risk death simply by being alive.  You can’t avoid it.  But if you take some care, you can change your life by directing your risk-taking toward the highest potential benefit.

  • Don’t take risks for the sake of taking risks. The rush isn’t worth the potential loss. Make sure that you exchange a controlled level of risk for a good potential payoff.
  • Take small risks to begin with, to build your confidence and work up to the larger ones.
  • Don’t listen to naysayers. Once you’ve done your research and made the decision to take the risk, go forward. Someone is always going to have something to say, but you can’t let it force you into a detour.

Life is a journey of exploration.  Instead of trying to avoid risk, accept that they are an inherent part of the journey.  Make educated decisions about what risks you are willing to take and how you will take them.

This finishes our Seven Words To Change Your Life:

  1. Change
  2. Choice
  3. Truth
  4. Trust
  5. Ask

  1. Good business accepts risk. The private sector is far too risk averse. In business you have to get stuck in. Sometimes the research can cost more than getting on with it.

  2. Well i think risk is every where, if you are willing to start a business then there are lots of competitors in the market. So if you will take risk only then you can able to start your business.

Most people are afraid of taking risk, probably because they are nudged out of their comfort zones. However, we cannot discover great things about our self and about life if we do not take the challenge of risk.

Definitely, risk is necessary for success. :-)

By taking risks you are telling youself that you have faith and trust in yourself which therefore gives you even more confidence to do things with enthusiasm and strength. Great article, thanks!

  5. I love the concept of your 7 words that will change my life and am systematically going through all of them on your posts! I agree that takign risks is a huge part of being successful. Sure, not every risk will pay off, but if you are smart about your approach you will find much more success in the long run than those who play every decision safe. I especially like your advice about not taking risks for the sake of taking a risk. Every decision shoudl be thought out, not just jumped into because it MIGHT pay off.

  6. Adam Talbot says:

sounds interesting, sometimes risk made in life can change our life too, but you should be very careful you should plan your strategy and then take steps, so that failure if happens doesn’t bother to you.

  7. Thanks for such a nice post. It is very difficult for me to differentiate among all the seven that which one is better. They all have got their own significance. But, as I think, truth is something which should be given the topmost priority.

  8. I would really love to change my life because I like taking risks. My life has lately been too monotonous and sometimes I ask myself if I really did what I wanted to do. That is always a big and complex question…

  9. I really hate taking big risks. I usually end up losing whatever I was risking anyway, so I`ve gotten to like to think matters through before going to action; taking a risk is not THAT much of a problem, it`s just that I like to increase my chances of succeeding by analyzing every possible outcome.

  10. It often comes done to taking a risk but sadly taking that risk can sometimes mean dire consequences. I have taken that risk myself and it ended up being well worth it. However, I have also seem people take the risk and end up bankrupt, so I also think you should pay close attention to “is it worth the risk?”

I love the concept of your 7 words that will change my life and hanks for such a nice post.

  16. My take on this is that Trust and Decide are not essential.
I’d say you need only Execution & Perseverance.
Everything else is just on top of these 2.

  17. I love this topic. Most people flee from the very existence of and mere possibility of taking risks. For me, it is something that has become a common occurrence in my life. By doing that, I have gained a lot. I have not only experienced twice as much as most people my age and have also learned twice as much. Have I succeeded every time I took a risk, no. It would have been nice, but if I wasn’t willing to fail, how could I have ever succeeded.

In order to get the big juicy red apple high in the apple tree, sometimes you must be willing to go out on a limb!

    Great post, thanks!

  18. Antony says:

  20. actually, it’s only the fear about the outcome that avoids one to take risk in their life:) everyone expects only the positive outcome…. i think that’s the problem in them.
