Venture capitalists risk a certain amount of money in order to make more money. Women risk the complications and exhaustion of pregnancy in order to have the benefit of a baby. Firefighters risk their own lives to save the lives of others. Students risk tuition money and years of studies for the potential benefit of a lucrative career. Entrepreneurs risk the hours, money and dedication needed to start a new business for the potential benefit of a successful business. Publishers risk the cost of printing and marketing a novel for the potential benefit of a best seller.

Imagine yourself on the journey toward the fulfillment of your Core Desires. You’ve determined exactly where you want to go, and you’ve mapped out your itinerary. Now you’re puttering along in your little jalopy (”Core Desires or Bust!”), bumping over rough roads and circumventing obstacles. “Slow and steady wins the race,” you mutter, steering around some debris in the road.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about some of the mistakes people make. Remember this one: “going forward without enough information or quitting too soon?” Be clear on your Core Desires, but don’t forget to do your research and make a good solid business plan, particularly when it comes to online marketing. The internet is reinventing itself every day, so you need to be willing to constantly learn and re-evaluate your plan. Once you’re set up to promote yourself and your product or service, keep these things in mind:

My dad was disappointed in me. I got beat up almost every day at school – my Navajo classmates hated me for being Caucasian. My grades were bad. My teachers saw me as a trouble maker, destined for failure. Even I was convinced that I was a loser – too dumb to ever amount to anything. That’s my story. You know yours – why you can’t succeed, why you can’t have the future that you dream of. Those beautiful dreams always seem to be for other people, don’t they?

$333 million. There you go — that would solve all of your problems, right? I mean, even a million would make a dent in some of the worst of your worries. As I type this, I’m listening to the news report about the twelve-state, mega-millions lottery. People are lined up out the door and around the stores to take their one dollar chance at the illusion of happiness.

And that’s all it is — the illusion.

When Dan Caro was two years old, a household accident left him with third degree burns over seventy percent of his body. He lost his right hand, most of his left and is severely scarred.
When Dan was twelve, he discovered his Core Desire — music. His Core Desire became his Compelling Force, and today he is a respected drummer in the New Orleans area.

Do you wake up each Monday morning with a feeling of anticipation? Are you thrilled to jump into your car, knowing that the sooner you leave, the sooner you’ll be at your desk, doing what you love to do?

Sound crazy?

If your daily life reflects your core desires — the drives and desires that define your very essence — this will be your life.

A mentor is defined almost exclusively as a more experienced and trustworthy friend, colleague, counselor or teacher. More completely however, a Mentor is much more than this, offering insight, perspective and knowledge geared specifically to the individual they are mentoring.

Like many highly motivated entrepreneurs, if you’re running an online business, you’re always looking for ways to increase your success levels through both getting personal satisfaction from your work and high sales and profits in your business.
I know I’m always looking for ways to improve how I do things – if the world doesn’t stay [...]

The reason I created The Truth About Making Money videos is because I’ve been talking to many of you in my community lately. Part of being a good mentor is knowing what is going on in the lives of those you are mentoring!
