I wasn’t ever very sensitive or considerate about it either.

A VP of a large insurance company once came to me and asked for my help.

He was earning more than enough money, but he wasn’t happy in his job. He had been at it for 22 years and had just grown tired of it.

When I asked him what he would like to do instead, he replied, without emotion, “I’ve been looking at real estate and investments because I know people who have succeeded in those areas.”

Marilyn Carlson Nelson, CEO of the Carlson Companies, said,

“You may see me as a woman who has power – the leader of a large company. But the power that matters is the power in my heart.

It doesn’t matter if you are trying to make a deal that makes a huge difference, or trying to fix a problem within a company. Ultimately, you have to have faith in yourself.

You have to have a sense that you will be personally accountable and do everything in your power to influence this world and make a difference.

And, you have to know that there’s a limit to what you can do and a place where only God can make a difference. If you get that right, you will be successful.

Don’t let anyone tell you that success has to do with money or power. Success has to do with living on your terms, and ultimately to make a difference.

To live your days in such a way that if the time comes where you face some kind of illness, or if something happens that changes your path and shortens your days, that you can say, ‘Okay. If today is my last, I’m prepared.”

What did people do to accomplish great things and achieve the results they wanted before the success and personal development movement started in the 1900s?

I stopped setting goals many years ago, and I still achieve everything I want at a very high level of satisfaction and joy in all areas of my life.

Everything I have accomplished, I have done without setting any goals.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you’ll still hit a star”?

Well you know what? When you’re setting a goal for something, you don’t want a star. You want the moon!

What if the Apollo astronauts set a goal to get to the moon, didn’t reach it, and decided on just settling for some star?

Goal Setting is the reigning king of all success techniques ever taught.

You have likely been taught that if you will write down your goals and read them daily, somehow they will happen.
That’s just not true.
