In the article “In Pursuit of Excellence,” basketball star Michael Jordan writes: “I have the desire to be the best person and player I can become, but I approach everything step by step. I know exactly where I want to go, and I focus on getting there. As I reach that level, I gain a little more confidence. Each success leads to the next one.“

Michael Jordan first discovered and focused on his Core Desire, then looked for coaches and mentors who could help him. When he achieved one Core Desire, he moved on.

“I’m not afraid to ask anybody (who can teach me something) anything. My attitude is ‘Show me, help me, give me direction.‘ “

How do you think it would feel to know exactly what you wanted to do – and to do it? If you’re like many people living in our world today, you probably don’t know what it IS that you want. You don’t know the foundation of your career builders. You know you’re not happy, but you don’t have an exact idea of what will MAKE you happy.

What is the solution? Buy more books? Go to more seminars? Just live a miserable life, hoping it will get better someday? It may seem like there are no answers – but that’s not true.

The DNA of your success is within you, waiting to be discovered. The plan for your career builders, your relationships, your health – all of it is there – and it is waiting to be revealed and to get you where you want to be.

What’s the key to drilling down to that core DNA?

Get some help! It doesn’t have to be me (though I hope I can be of assistance somewhere along your path) – but find someone. Find a mentor who can speak into your life and assist you in drilling down to the core of your desires – your DNA – your purpose in life.

Don’t waste another minute doing what you don’t want to do.
